Welcome to the Web site of the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology and Colposcopy (KSGOC) . We extend wishes for good health and happiness to all of our members who have taken an interest in the KSGOC, with passion and sincerity.

Twenty years have already passed since the establishment of the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology and Colposcopy. The KSGOC was founded as the Korean Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology on August 20, 1984, with the organization of a support association, drafting of the articles of the association, and hosting of an academic seminar on colposcopy as well as a general assembly to mark the inauguration. Despite the small membership level and financial difficulties during the initial stage, our senior members pursued ambitious academic projects and took active part in overseas academic conferences to make public our existence on the world stage. Thanks to these devoted efforts, the KSGOC has evolved to what it is today.

In November 1990, the association was reborn as the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology and Colposcopy, and today, the Society holds a respected position in the research of gynecologic oncology, both in Korea and abroad, as an academic organization comprised of over 600 experts in the field.

As in many other fields, gynecologic oncology has made great strides, and today, we are informed of up-to-date research on the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer virtually every day. Over the past twenty years, the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology and Colposcopy has been credited for diverse accomplishments in this field, and has achieved both qualitative and quantitative progress. A major example is the inauguration in 2003 of the Korean Gynecologic Oncology Group, in response to the fact that Korea 's clinical research in this field was unproductive up to that time. Now, we have gained the confidence that we are able to perform clinical studies on gynecologic oncology in a systematic fashion, the results of which will materialize shortly. We have also devoted significant efforts to hosting foreign conferences in Korea : in 1996, the 8 th World Congress on Gestational Trophoblastic Disease was held in Seoul , while in 2002, the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) held its biennial meeting in Seoul . This congress was a turning point in confirming the status of the KSGOC on the international stage.

There are still numerous issues that remain to be resolved in the 21 st century. To this end, we at the KSGOC will strive unendingly to attain the ability to become a global leader in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological cancer for Korean women. We invite your continuing interest in our Society. Thank you very much.
